Without further ado, this edition of Music Monday's feature songs are:
First of all, let me just point out how difficult it is to type out the band name; because it's pronounced "churches", my fingers, which are usually on auto-pilot always get so confused when I tell them to throw a 'V' instead of a 'U' in there. Anyhow, I learned of this band a long while ago. I can't remember when, but it was late at night, and they were being interviewed and performing on the Jian Ghomeshi show. I remember thinking, at the beginning of songs, how obscure everything sounded, but when the vocals came in, I was immediately captured by how pretty the lead singer's voice is; and the songs just came together and didn't sound too abstract. I forgot about them until a few days ago when another one of their songs (song #2) came up on a Songza playlist I had on. But The Mother We Share has been stuck in my head for longer!
Catchy, catchy chorus. That is all.
And lastly,
There are a lot of times when you hear a new song come on the radio, think it's catchy, and then try to sing along. Of course, it's kinda hard to when you don't know the lyrics. It's also hard to understand what the song is about (though you can sorta make the assumption it's about love. Because most songs are like that fortunately or unfortunately). The first time I heard the chorus of the song, I thought it was about a guy telling a girl that she's rude, but that he'd marry her anyway. Nuh-uh. Instead, it's a song to the girl's dad. Big difference. Aside from what the song is about, I love love looooove the reggae groove.
That's it!
