Getting up to speed.

Hey people. It looks like I haven't mulled over my life written for a while, which isn't the case. I have been writing, but I've been writing and deleting because I feel like all I do is complain or whine about the littlest things instead of just... writing... about my life.

Anyhow, since the last post was from November, I thought I'd write about what's gone on since then. There isn't a lot, despite there being two months to cover, but you know me; I don't do much.

December: or should I say, Deece-ember, eh!? Naw, we'll just keep it at December. December wasn't decent. It wasn't bad either.

I attended my first workplace holiday party ever. Actually, this is false, I've been to holiday parties when I worked at Winners, but this was different because my coworkers this time know I exist, and there isn't such a large age group between me and them.

We also got to dress up for the night, which made this holiday party even more awesome because I like dressing up.
Dress: Winners.
We went to The Keg across from our office. It was my first time going to The Keg, and, wow, it was nice. I mean, despite the restaurant being super dark (why do they do that?!), the food was great and there was this really cool vibe from the whole place that I don't get often (probably because I don't go to swanky places often).

It was a fun night - from the start when we got lovely gifts from our doctors, to the end when it was just all the girls hanging out for another bottle of wine.
(Also, all of the servers were really, really hot. Is that a requirement for working at The Keg?)

A few weeks later, our family decided to get away for a bit. We didn't go too far - just down the highway to Great Wolf Lodge at Niagara.

It was probably really weird for all of the parents with their young children seeing us there because none of us are kids, except for my little brother, but he was probably one of the older kids there. I mean, it was pretty weird for us too, because there were kids  e v e r y w h e r e  and the activities were all targeted to kids under the age of 8 anyway.
CHILDREN. EVERYWHERE.
Nonetheless, we still had fun because we (my siblings and I) are still very much six-year-olds at heart, and we like ourselves a decent water park (though I wouldn't really recommend coming to GWL for the water park, if you're a grown-up and looking for a water park to go to. GWL's water park slides are not for thrill seekers).

Oh! And while we were there, we spent a good chunk of a day at the new outlet mall. I got myself a new pair of running shoes (which I have yet to break in...), a new work-out t-shirt, socks, and a new glorious purse from Kate Spade (my first grown-up-woman bag!).

And lastly, our family's new year's party was held at our house, and despite it being last-minute, that I couldn't be home to help (I had to work!), and that a lot of the family couldn't make it due to illness, it came together pretty well, and we had some decent fun.

January: It's funny how each day passes by really slowly, but when it gets to the end of the month, everyone's all like "omigosh! Where did the time go!??!". Everyone, including me.

January, on a whole, has been really dull. But, I did attend two school interviews. My first interview was at Waterloo. I tried to stay as calm as I could for this one because it was an MMI (eeesh); and I'm happy to say that my nerves never got the best of me during the interview! I left the interview feeling like I did pretty well, but after some reflection, I'm not so sure anymore. How likely is it that I bested 149 other interviewees who are all probably more articulate and sociable than I am?

My second interview was at NECO in Boston. Everything was going well leading up to the interview - no nerves, and I had answers prepped for a bunch of predicted questions - and then the weekend right before, I caught the stomach flu. And it was gnarly (in a bad way). I was a lot better by the day of my flight, but my stomach was still not entirely happy, so I couldn't convince myself to have any clam chowder...

We stayed at the Mariott not too far from the school. And thanks to my aunt and her connections, we got a sweet room on the 28th floor.
It wasn't much to look at, but it was still an impressive view.
The interview at NECO went as I was told - it was much more relaxed and laid-back than Waterloo's interview. The school itself was not what I expected. For one, the school building is a house - we almost walked right past it because it blended in with all the other townhouses beside it. In addition, it was really small, unlike Waterloo. Their lecture rooms were as big as the smallest lecture rooms at UWO, and their lab was really tiny as well. But all this being said, I love the city of Boston with all my heart, so I could overlook all of the school's shortcomings for that...

While in Boston, I revisited two places:
RIP sock-bun donut. I left it at our hotel. :(

So many memories!

Paid a visit to my old pal Red while in Quincy Market.
We didn't have long to explore Boston, unfortunately. But I'll go back one day. For school? Maybe. I'm still waiting to hear back. Waterloo's admission decisions will be made by the end of March. As for NECO, I was told by our intern at our office that they got back to her within a week of her interview. It's been a week since my interview... I am in fact quite unsettled.
Wingdow seat.
And alas, those are the relatively notable events that have happened in the past two months. February doesn't look like it will be any more exciting so far, but we'll see.
